VETERANS DAY is a celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. Veterans Day is aspecial day of thanks and appreciation for those courageous individuals protecting us!
To mark the end of World War I, which formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the Armistice with Germany went into effect.
In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”
The United States originally observed Armistice Day; it then evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954.
The original concept for the celebration was for a day observed with parades and public meetings and a brief suspension of business beginning at 11:00 a.m. Today, we continue the tradition to honor those who serve and have served.
As a fellow veteran of the United States Army, Spouses Cleaning Houses owner, Ed Wright, would like to give a gift of thanks to our service men and women, past and present, and their families with a great offer below. Ed spent many years in service for our country and is still determined to make it his number one priority to be of service to others.
The employees here at Spouses Cleaning Houses take great pride in our country and cannot help but to appreciate our veterans then and now.
HAPPY VETERANS DAY
