Women in Anne Arundel County have a higher rate of breast cancer than in other areas of the state and the country, according to statistics from the county’s Department of Health. And October comes to an end, we have all seen the pink ribbons, pink bracelets, Facebook posts and even the NFL players wearing pink cleats – all drawing attention to Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Cancerhas touched many of us on a personal level– whether it’s a family member, friend or in my case , one of my very first customers. She was not only one of my very first customers, but she later became my friend.

As my business began to grow, I would think of her often. I knew I wanted to honor her and also find a way to give back to the community. After a bit of research and talking to people in my industry, I found Cleaning for A Reason, a non-profit dedicated to giving the gift of free house cleanings to women undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. Many women, especially those going through chemotherapy, don’t have the strength to clean their homes, let alone run their household. With Cleaning for A Reason these women are getting the help they need: free house cleaning service, once a month, for four months.

Partnering with Cleaning for A Reason has created strong bonds between my staff and our clients’ who are battling cancer. It is a tremendously gratifying experience, knowing that we could help someone in our community who is going through a difficult time in their lives. We currently are cleaning for four women in our service are that are going through treatment and plan to continue our partnership with Cleaning for A Reason.

So as we continue to celebrate our 20 years in business, it is my goal to continue to partner with Cleaning for A Reason. If you know someone that is going through cancer treatment and needs a helping hand with housecleaning, give us a call at 410-571-9428 today.

Cleaning For A Reason is a nonprofit organization that serves the United States and Canada. Our mission is to give the gift of free house cleaning for women undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. Our goal is to let these brave and strong women focus on their health and treatment while we focus on, and take away the worry and work of, cleaning their homes– free of charge. We have recruited over 1,200 maid services to donate free housecleaning to women who are undergoing treatment for cancer. Since 2006, our partner maid services have volunteered their time to clean for over 17,000 women – valued at over $5,000,000.
